Caleb Swanigan's weight gain and loss. The Actual Reason For A Purdue Player's Death

Caleb Swanigan, a former Purdue and NBA player, died at the young age of 25. Fans are heartbroken and devastated by the sudden death of their favorite player. Caleb Swanigan struggled with his weight since childhood. People are speculating that the basketball player's sudden death was caused by weight gain and loss.

Caleb Sylvester Swanigan accomplished a lot as a basketball player at a young age. Caleb began his college basketball career with the Purdue Boilermakers. ESPN ranked him among the top ten players in the national class at the age of 17. He was dubbed "Mr. Basketball" in Indiana. He was the first state champion in the history of Homestead High School in Indiana.

Child Abuse by Caleb Swanigan

Caleb's childhood was filled with ups and downs. He had a difficult and unstable childhood. Carl Swanigan Sr., Caleb's father, was a drug addict. Tanya, his mother, was responsible for six children. Caleb spent the majority of his childhood in homeless shelters. His father had many legal issues throughout his life and struggled with drug addiction for the majority of his childhood. Caleb's father assaulted his mother physically.

According to a Bleacher Report story, her mother once dropped her infant son Caleb, causing bruises on his face. Caleb's mother fled to Salt Lake City with her children in fear of his husband discovering this and assaulting her again. Caleb Swanigan's family moved from Indianapolis to Utah several times over the next decade. They lived in five different homeless shelters during this time, and Caleb attended 13 different schools by the age of 13.

Swanigan, Caleb Weight Concerns

Caleb inherited two items from his biological father. The first is his stature, and the second is his obesity. His biological father stood at 6 feet and 8 inches. His father died in 2014 as a result of diabetes complications. His father weighed 500 pounds at the time of his death. And 500 pounds or 230 kilograms is a lot of extra weight that can endanger a person's life.

Caleb inherited his biological father's proclivity for obesity. Caleb Swanigan was 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 360 pounds when he was about to enter the eighth grade. A child who is in the eighth grade and has a body weight of 160 kg or 360 lbs poses a health risk to the child.

According to his ESPN interview, Caleb stated that growing up in homeless shelters exposed him to unhealthy food options, which led to him developing a complicated relationship with food. In the interview, he also stated that people believe it is something minor, but it accumulates over time. One bad meal will not kill anyone, but three or four bad meals in a row will begin to harm someone's body.

Caleb also stated that the eating habits he developed as a child were influenced by poverty. He claimed that eating healthy foods is more expensive than eating unhealthy foods. If someone is in a position to eat right, that person should eat right because sometimes it is just not right financially.

Caleb's mother later decided to relocate her family to Houston. However, Caleb's older brother was dissatisfied with the decision and was concerned about his younger brother's health and weight gain issues. He was concerned that if Caleb moved in with his mother, he would continue to gain weight, putting his health at risk. Caleb Swanigan's older brother contacted his former basketball coach Roosevelt Barnes to resolve the situation. Roosevelt was a successful sports agent at the time.

Roosevelt agreed to adopt and raise Caleb as his own child. Roosevelt began to monitor Caleb's eating habits after he had adjusted. Roosevelt Barnes, after consulting with and receiving clearance from a cardiologist, began putting Caleb through the workouts that Barnes used to do in college. Caleb finally lost some weight after a lot of effort and eating habit control, and by the time he finished college, he had lost around 100 pounds and weighed around 260 pounds (120 kg).

Diet Plan for Caleb Swanigan

Caleb Swanigan was severely overweight and had poor eating habits when he was adopted by Roosevelt. Roosevelt Barnes related an incident that occurred when Caleb first arrived at his home. In recounting the incident, Roosevelt stated that the first day Caleb was at his house, Roosevelt told him to get up and eat breakfast. When Barnes returned downstairs, there was a huge box of Wheaties on the table. Roosevelt stated that the entire box and gallon of milk had vanished. Then Roosevelt inquired about Caleb. And Caleb Swanigan stated that Roosevelt asked him to eat, and in response to his response, Roosevelt stated that he did not mean the entire box.

Swanigan, on the other hand, was determined to lose weight; all he needed was proper guidance. Caleb accepted Roosevelt's offer of assistance. Caleb simply needed time to adjust to his new home and healthy lifestyle. Roosevelt made some changes to Caleb's life after having him examined by a cardiologist. Caleb Swanigan's diet and workout routine were altered.

Here is the detailed diet plan that Caleb himself revealed in an interview with ESPN.
