Acne often occurs on oily skin. If proper care and regimen are not followed then it may lead to excess sebum production which triggers acne that is of multiple types. People believe that the cause of it is just external. However, you must know it attracts both the factors, external and internal. Cutting it short for you to get a rapid solution, here are some internal care which one must follow as it is said, “You are what you eat”.

Internal care:


1. Intake of collagen: 

Collagen is a human body protein that is produced naturally till the age of 20. Post that your body slows down in producing it and hence you must consume the collagen powder to repair and rejuvenate your skin from within.


2. Fenugreek seeds: 

Also known as methi seeds, it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help treat your skin. If it’s hard and yucky to consume, try mixing it with fennel seeds, you will not encounter its bitterness.

3. Coconut water: 

It prevents oily-outbursts and keeps your skin hydrated preventing acne to show its face on your face 


4. Cut down on dairy products:

 It may sound weird but milk, and other dairy products may be a main cause for your acne. Excess milk and its related products produce oily glands that leads to excess oily skin and hence acne. Once you boycott it, you may see a drop in acne within 2 to 3-weeks.


5. Green tea: 

Needless to say, this is undoubtedly a best recourse for getting a flawless skin.


6. Omega -3:

 This is a necessity for a healthy and glowing skin. Intake of fish oil and flax seeds daily is must.


7. Eliminate sugar: 

Sugar is not good for your health overall. Take care in consuming less of it.

8. One must also include sweet potato, sunflower seeds, fruits, walnuts, avocados, broccoli, and dark chocolate in their diet. Avoid mail and junk food and follow a good diet.

Having understood and executed the internal factors, let’s talk about the external care one must take:


1. Wash your face daily twice with a cleanser or a mild face wash.

Recommended: Cetaphil cleanser for oily skin

2. Green tea toner: 

Prepare bitterful green tea and freeze it in the form of an ice-cube. Apply twice a day after washing your face. Don’t wipe the left-out water, let it dry naturally.

3. Moisturizer: 

Post toner, moisturizing your skin is an essential.

Recommended: A lacto calamine for oily skin 

4. Sunscreen: 

Don’t forget to apply a non-comedogenic sunscreen. Also try to cover your face by a thin cotton scarf dodging your skin from pollution and sun both!

Recommended: Acne UV gel

5. Home remedies + OTC treatment:

  • Honey + Cinnamon: Mix it in proper quantity as cinnamon tends to burn your skin. Do a patch test before applying.
  • How many times: thrice in a week
  • Soframycin: It is a better product to apply on your skin once the acne is gone. Apply immediately when acne falls off.
  • Masoor dal powder + Rice powder + Lemon+ Licorice powder + Honey: You can try this on scars and dark spots once your acne have been reduced. The scars will fade by its application.
  • Bio-oil: It is helpful on scars. Apply once the acne is gone.

6. Generic carefulness:

  • Wash your face with plain water often whenever you feel your skin is turning oily.
  • Don’t touch your face
  • Prevent your skin from getting attracted to germs (even when on the beds)
  • Use less make-up and, if used, properly remove your make-up before sleep
  • Drink plenty of water (8-10 glasses daily)
  • Have a sound sleep of 8 hours daily.


7. Sweat out: 

Exercise, it helps your skin heal naturally when you sweat-out and meditate as it maintains your stress level and prevent the development of a hormone called androgen that causes bad skin.
