How important is tetanus vaccination today

Until now the Corona virus pandemic has not ended. In order to suppress the increasing number of cases, the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered. The government also recommends that everyone get it. So, why should everyone get vaccinated against COVID-19?

Currently, the COVID-19 vaccine is being distributed worldwide. Giving this vaccine is the most appropriate solution to reduce the number of cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.

Probably one of the most important vaccines in existence.

  1. Tetanus bacteria are everywhere. You don’t need a sick person to catch it from. It is in soil, and thus on unwashed vegetables. If you garden, you are exposed. It is not possible to avoid exposure to this bacteria.
  2. While it typically takes root in deep wounds, like punctures, any break in the skin can be vulnerable. Wounds may not even be noticed, so the preventative measure of washing it out may not be applied in time. There is a treatment that can be given right after exposure, but if you do not know you have been exposed, or don't have the treatment available, you are screwed.
  3. Tetanus is a HORRIFIC disease. Mortality WITH TREATMENT is in two digits. Tetanus causes all the muscles in the body to contract, and to remain contracted for weeks. Spasms can be so powerful that bones break. The pain is unbearable, and it never lets up for a minute. There are tales of people being driven crazy by the pain. And unvaccinated mothers sometimes give birth to children who suffer tetanus immediately. As infants.

Get your tetanus shot. Keep up with the boosters. They are effective enough that cases of Tetanus are few and far between, but because it is environmental, there is no such thing as herd immunity. If you get only one vaccine in your life, IMHO, this is the one to get.
